Site Engineering worked on several streets in downtown Cartersville, including the main thoroughfare Tennessee St, maintaining, replacing, and upgrading the domestic water system services. 12,700 linear feet of water mains from 8in through 12in diameter were installed in the challenging urban conditions, heavy traffic, and aging infrastructure of Cartersville, GA. Complete landscaping, paving, and hardscape restoration were installed. Dozens of tie-ins to the existing pipeline system involved nightwork cut-ins under state highways, tie-ins to aging cast iron pipe, existing valves that could not be operated, insertion of new valves under pressure, and tie-ins to lead joint pipe. Careful planning with the City’s engineers produced a plan and work schedule to enable installation of new pipe in close proximity to Cartersville High School, churches, businesses, and state highway 41.
